Some information about hoodia

Hoodia is a plant whose stem was used by nomadic Bushmen to fight off hunger, when they did not have any food to eat. This plant grows in Kalahari Desert in Southern Africa and its looks like a cactus-like succulent plant. Hoodia has caught the attention of people as it is said to suppress appetite, and research is being conducted by on the appetite-suppressing molecule P57. Phytopharm, a British pharmaceutical company is researching the effectiveness of hoodia as an anti-obesity drug.

People who have diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, anorexia, bulimia, eating disorders, pregnant women and children should not consume hoodia without consulting a doctor. Hoodia is used by people who wish to get rid of obesity, lose weight and those who want to suppress hunger. It is available in various forms capsule, powder, liquid or tea at health food stores. Those who cannot find hoodia in a store can find suppliers on the Internet. Hoodia is also available in the form of diet pills, but you need to combine exercise and healthy eating with hoodia to get benefit or lose weight. Presently research is still on about this weight reducing wonder product, and more trials need to be conducted before we get a correct verdict.
